Standing Firm on the Word of God

WHAT WE BELIEVE ABOUT

THE HOLY TRINITY

In the Holy Trinity consisting of God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit, three Persons co-equal and co-eternal, the same in substance but distinct in subsistence.   (Mathew 3:16-17, II Cor. 13-14)

THE FATHER

In God the Father omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent, eternal, and immutable; full of love, justice, goodness, mercy and truth.  (Eph. 4:6, I Cor 8:6, I Tim 2:5)

THE SON

In God the Son, our only Savior, full of grace and truth by Whom all things are made; Who is the image of God in Whom all the fullness of the Godhead dwells in bodily form.  (Col 1:14-19, John 1:1-3, Acts 14:12)  We believe in His deity (John 1:1), humanity, (John 1:14), virgin birth, (Isaiah 7:14), death (John 19:33-34); burial (Matthew 27:57-60); bodily resurrection (Matthew 28:6-7); ascension (Acts 1:9); exaltation (Hebrews 1:3); and coming again (I Thess 4:16-17).

THE HOLY SPIRIT

In God the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity, whom the Father sent into the world to reprove it of sin, righteousness, and judgment and to testify of Jesus Christ.  (Matthew 28:19 and John 16:8-14)

THE SCRIPTURES

That the scriptures as originally written are verbally inspired of God without any admixture of error in their substance and that they were written by holy men of God who spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit and they are final in authority, in all matters of conduct, and doctrine.  (II Tim 3:16, II Peter 1:21)

THE CHURCH

In the Church, the Bride of Christ, and that it is the body of which Christ is the head.  (Matthew 16:18, Col 1:18, and Rev 19:7-8)

THE ORDINANCES

In the ordinances of water baptism (Matt 28:19, Acts 8:36-39) and the Lord’s Supper. (I Cor 11:23-26)

THE DEVIL

That there is a personal devil, the Christians adversary, a created being who was originally the anointed cherub but who sinned, losing his estate and thus became the father of lies and that his destiny is the lake of fire. (Ezekiel 28:14-15, Isaiah 14:12-15, I Peter 5:8, and Rev 20:10)

SIN AND THE FALL

That man through his own choice at the temptation of the devil sinned and thus alienated himself and all the human race from God.  (Genesis 3:1-7, Romans 5:18,) that the wages of sin is death and that man is totally unable to save himself. (Romans 6:23, and Titus 3:5)

SALVATION

That salvation is through the vicarious death of Christ which was the substitutionary death on the Cross without admixture of works or merit on the part of man; (Titus 3:5-6, Eph 2:8-9, and Gal 3:13) that men are saved after realizing their guilt before God, (Romans 3:23, Isaiah 53:6) by receiving the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Savior, (John 1:12 and Romans 10:9-13) thereby being born into the family of God. (John 3:3)

ASSURANCE AND POSSESSION

That believers in Christ can enjoy the assurance of the possession of salvation, (I John 5:13)   The inheritance of incorruptible things, ( I Peter1:4) redemption, (Gal 3:13), justification, (Romans 5:1), propitiation , (Romans 3:25) adoption, (Gal 4:5-7), reconciliation, (II Cor 5:18-19), sanctification, (I Cor 1:30) and ultimate glorification, (Romans 8:30) and that they are partakers of divine nature. (II Peter 1:4)

HELL

Hell is a literal place of torment and anguish prepared for the devil and his angels in which those who reject the Son of God as their personal savior shall be tormented forever and ever.  (Matt 25:41, Luke 16:23-26, Rev 20:10 and Rev 13:15)

HEAVEN

Where all the redeemed shall live in perfect peace and bliss forever before the face of God.  (Rev 21:3-4 and Rev 22:1-5)

RESURRECTIONS

In the resurrection of the dead, the righteous dead shall be raised at the appearance of Christ.  (I Thess 4:13-18), but the wicked dead shall not be raised until after the millennium and then to face the judgments of the Great White Throne.  (Rev 20:4-6, and 11-15)

JUDGMENTS

For the Believers

  1. Sin judged on the Cross, (John 3:17-18)
  2. Works and rewards, (II Cor 5:10 and I Cor 3:11-15)

 For the Unbelievers

1. (Revelation 20:11-15)

THE SECOND COMING

(a) In the imminent personal pre-millennial return of Christ in the air for His saints which event is the Blessed Hope of the Church and which time the righteous dead shall be raised, and the living believers translated; thus the righteous dead and the living saints shall be caught up into the air to be eternally with Christ. (I Thess 4:13-18 and I Cor 15:51-54)

 (b) In the imminent personal pre-millennial return of Christ to the earth with His saints in power and great glory judging the nations and setting up His Kingdom. ( Matt 25:31-34 and Rev 19:11-16)

CONCERNING MARRIAGE

We believe that God has designed marriage to be a covenantal, sexual, procreative, lifelong union of one man and one woman, as God created them, and is meant to signify the covenant love between Christ and his Bride the church. (Gen. 1:26-28; Lev. 18:22; Rom. 1:24-27; Eph. 5:25-32; and Heb. 13:4)
